Due to the potential International Longshoremen Association (ILA) strike on October 1st, the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast ports may face disruptions. In response, ocean carriers, including CMA CGM, EMC, HMM, and YML, will implement an “Emergency Port Congestion Surcharge” starting as early as October 11th. This surcharge could be up to $3,000 per container for all shipments arriving at USEC and USGC ports.
Additionally, CMA CGM will extend this surcharge to exports leaving these ports, charging up to $2,000 per container. This temporary fee aims to cover additional costs arising from strike-related disruptions or labor unrest.
We will do our best to keep you informed about how this may affect your shipments.
